Via Andrew Sullivan: Check out this video of two teenage boys, somewhere in China, reaching out to the world. As Sully duly notes, globalization at its best. In spite of their best efforts the Chinese government will, in the end, be unable to stop their people from accessing western media, ideas, images, etc. The interesting question is what will be the impact of this inevitable openness on Chinese society and how will the Chinese contribute to the growing world culture. The pop, youth, media segments of this culture have been centered on America, despite the oft reported hatred for us in much of the world.
But with shared access to the web, arguably the most important form of communication in the next decade, this shared culture will likely merge with the styles of the emerging Indo-Chinese giants.
