No Aid For The Hamas Government In Palestine

The reflexive anti-Bush "argument" (following the Palestinian election which gave Hamas control of the Palestinian legislature and government) has been that it is hypocritical to support democracies and free elections and then to withdraw funding when we don't like the outcome of these very elections. This is as silly as arguing that American Democrats are required to support a Republican President once elected and cease attacking him, or that the election of an anti-American government in any former ally nation permits no adjustment of our policies toward that country when the old policies are no longer in our interest.

Capt. Ed has, as usual, a well thought out reaction to today's editorial in the NY Times in support of the suspension of US aid to the Palestinian government. Check them both out.
